I love all birds, particularly herons.
There's a beaver pond along a Hudson Valley trail I bike where herons and kingfishers fish, and pileated woodpeckers and owls call in the woods. Green herons are nearly invisible as they perch on deadwood limbs poking up from the swampy water, waiting for a meal to swim by.
